I. Programmes and Supervisors

II. Mode and length
1. Mode: Full-time
2. Length: 3 years from Fall 2024 in average, and a maximum 6 years
III. How to apply
Applicants shall apply and check the admission information through the CQMU international student information management system (https://lxs.cqmu.edu.cn).
Applicants for Chinese Government Scholarship programmes shall submit two applications, one on the CQMU international student information management system, the other on the “CSC Study in China” website (http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login).
Applicants can visit the CQMU English website (https://english.cqmu.edu.cn/) for information on postgraduate programmes, supervisors, and admission criteria for international students studying in China.
No paper documents are required at the application phase. For admitted students, the originals and the copies are required at the time of registration for verification and archival purposes. Documents uploaded onto the systems at the application phase must be clear, authentic and valid. Applicants are advised to scan the documents using professional equipment, and are responsible for any consequences resulting from unclear or unidentifiable documents.

IV. Eligibility
1. Status
Applicants must be citizens of a country other than the People's Republic of China, hold a valid passport or citizenship certificate for more than 4 years (inclusive), and have a record of actual residence abroad for more than 2 years in the past 4 years (before April 30 of the year of admission). Note that actual residence abroad for more than 9 months in a year may be counted as 1 year, based on the dates of the entry and exit stamp on the passport.
Applicants must be in good physical and mental health, have no record of bad behavior, and abide by China’s laws and regulations as well as CQMU’s rules and regulations.
2. For academic-degree programme applicants
1) Generally, applicants for master’s degree programmes shall be under the age of 35, and applicants for doctoral degree programmes shall be under the age of 40. Applicants should be in good physical and mental health.
2) Applicants must have sufficient financial resources to support their studies and living in China.
3) Applicants must have graduated from an accredited colleges/universities in their home country with a good academic record. Applicants who have graduated from Chinese universities must have an excellent academic record, and preference will be given to those who have received scholarships from the Chinese government at the national, provincial, or municipal level.
4) Applicants must offer recommendation letters from at least two scholars who hold the title of associate professor or higher.
5) Applicants must be in good academic standing, and provide relevant certificates of good performance at the former institution as well as a non-criminal record.
6) Applicants master’s degree programmes must have a bachelor’s degree; applicants for doctoral degree programmes must have a master’s degree.
7) Language proficiency requirements
l For English-taught programmes, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: a) Native English speaker; b) Applicants whose native language is not English, must have a minimum TOEFL score of 85, or a minimum IELTS score of 6, or have been taught in English during their undergraduate and postgraduate studies (relevant documentation is required as proof). Under the same conditions, applicants with an HSK certificate will be given preferential consideration.
l For Chinese-taught programmes, applicants must meet the following requirement: HSK Level 5 or above.
3. For professional-degree programme applicants
In addition to meeting the requirements for those who apply for academic-degree programmes, applicants for professional-degree programmes shall have a Chinese language proficiency of HSK Level 6 or above.
4. For scholarship applicants
Applicants must meet the application requirements for either an academic-degree programme or a professional-degree programme. Scholarships are intended for outstanding students who need financial support.

V. Application documents
Passport (a photocopied/scanned). At the time of registration, the passport must be valid for no less than 6 months. Otherwise, please renew it on time.
A completed application form for international students apply to study at Chongqing Medical University (completed in the CQMU international student information management system).
A copy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the original copy shall be kept by the applicant). The form is formulated by the Chinese quarantine authority. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the photo or sealed photo of the applicants, the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital are invalid. The physical examination result is valid for only 6 months.
A non-criminal record. Applicants must provide a non-criminal record officially issued by the local public security with a validity period of at least 6 months.
Proof of bank deposit (which must be no less than the full amount required for the first academic year).
Notarized bachelor’s/master’s graduate certificate and degree certificate (or pre-graduation certificate for applicants who will graduate in July 2024) (a photocopy/scan). Transcripts and final dissertation for the undergraduate or graduate stage (if there is no final dissertation for the undergraduate stage, a proof is required) (a photocopy/scan). Copies of academic records from first to last semester during the undergraduate, graduate (if any), and doctoral programmes (if any) shall be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the attending university’s academic affairs office, graduate school, or student management department. They can be in Chinese or English, but must be attached with notarized English translations if they are in foreign languages other than English
For English-taught Programme applicants: a certificate for TOEFL and IELTS score (a photocopy/scan) or a proof demonstrating the undergraduate and graduate courses were taught in English.
For Chinese-taught Programme applicants: a valid certificate and transcript for HSK Level 5 or higher. The HSK Level 5 score is valid for two years (from the date of the examination).
For professional-degree Programme applicants: a valid certificate and transcript for HSK Level 6. The HSK Level 6 score is valid for two years (from the date of the examination).
Two recommendation letters (photocopies/scans) from scholars who hold the title of associate professor or higher. The letters shall specify the contact phone number, e-mail address, title and position of the referees, to ensure that Chongqing Medical University can contact them and confirm the contents of the letters.
A study plan of at least 1,000 words written in English (for English-taught Programme applicants) or in Chinese (for Chinese-taught Programme applicants).
Additional documents: publictions, certificates of honor, certificate of qualified practicing physician, and other relevant materials (photocopies/scans).
Documents required for scholarship application: Applicants for the Chinese Government Scholarship shall submit a Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form; Applicants for Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor Scholarship for International Students shall submit an Application Form for Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor Scholarship for International Students.
VI. Admission
Applicants are to be admitted on the basis of competitive selection, taking into account their interview scores, academic performance, colleges/universities attended, accomplishments, etc.
Applicants with a final interview score of less than 60 (out of 100) will be considered unqualified and will not be admitted.
Applicants who are found to have any of the following problems during the admission process will be considered unqualified and will not be admitted:
1) Unqualified for application.
2) In a physical condition that disqualify them from admission.
3) In other conditions that disqualify them from admission.
Chongqing Medical University will strictly examine the documents submitted by applicants at the phases of application, preliminary examination, second examination, admission and new student registration in accordance with national policies, and will reject those who are unqualified (including those who obtained the application eligibility through forgery, deception, concealment or other fraudulent means, or who applied due to negligence or misunderstanding). Applicants who are found to be in the above situations, no matter how far the process proceeds, will be immediately disqualified from application, re-examination, admission, or registration, or be dispelled.
